WHAT IS CAMU CAMU? Camu Camu (Myrciaria Dubia) is fruit bush that grows around the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, Peru, and Columbia.Over the last few years, the dried fruit powder has become one of the top superfoods in the health world, especially due to its incredible levels of Vitamin C (60x higher than Oranges/Lemons). WHAT IT DOES:
Camu Camu provides a full natural Vitamin C Complex, with very high levels of important phytonutrients called Carotenoids (especially Lutein and Zeaxanthin which are vital for healthy eyes).
A 2010 study in Japan found that Camu Camu contained a substance called 1-Methylmalate which suppressed liver damage.

RAW VITAMIN C vs SYNTHETIC ASCORBIC ACID:
Ascorbic Acid is main source of Vitamin C in supplements, having first been discovered and synthesised in the 1930s. Most studies surrounding Vitamin C are done with pure Ascorbic Acid, and it has been highly researched. Common dosages are 1000mg (1g) upwards per day, with many people taking 2-4 grams, or even higher - especially when suffering from colds.
However, whilst Ascorbic Acid is definitely Vitamin C - it is synthetic, and lacks the other co-factors that are normally bound to it in nature (such as Vitamin J (Choline) — Vitamin P (a selection of plant flavonoids) — and bio-available Copper)
Unlike natural sources, synthetic Ascorbic Acid has a very short “half-life” in the body, with poor uptake - so most of the supplement is lost, and the rest only lasts for a couple of hours... which is why many supplement several times per day... or buy expensive time-release formulations.
In natural food sources, only about 10% of the Vitamin C Complex is comprised of Ascorbic Acid - and it acts like a shell (or container) for the other components such as flavonoids and anti-oxidants.
